The problem is that the organism is beginning to lose its capacity to manage energy.
Metabolic Syndrome Is an Energy Disease
The human body is a flawless energy system made up of billions of cells. Every cell must produce energy, and the center of this energy production is the mitochondria. Today, chronic stress, poor nutrition, environmental toxins, physical inactivity, sleep disorders, and chronic inflammation are all reducing mitochondrial performance.
As a result, while a person eats more in order to gain more energy, the cells become unable to use that energy. This is precisely where insulin resistance arises. At its core, metabolic syndrome is not only about sugar metabolism—it is about the disruption of energy metabolism itself.
Fat Tissue Is Not Just Storage—It Is an Organ
Fat tissue was once thought to simply store energy. Today we know that visceral (abdominal) fat tissue in particular is an active endocrine organ. This tissue continuously produces inflammatory cytokines.
TNF-alpha, IL-6, and other inflammatory mediators affect not only the blood vessels, but also the brain, the liver, the immune system, and the autonomic nervous system. For this reason, metabolic syndrome is not merely a weight problem—it is a disease of low-grade chronic inflammation.
The Problem Is Not in the Liver—It Is in Regulation
Many patients present with fatty liver. Some arrive with high blood pressure. Some are in a prediabetic state. Others live with chronic fatigue and sleep disorders. Yet most of these are different branches of the same tree. From the perspective of regulation medicine, the real question is: “Why can this organism no longer maintain its own balance?” Because disease usually does not begin in the organs—it begins in the body’s regulatory systems.

Research on the gut microbiota in recent years has changed the direction of medicine. When gut flora is disrupted, insulin resistance can increase, the hunger–satiety balance can be disturbed, chronic inflammation can rise, and fatty liver can accelerate.
For this reason, treating metabolic syndrome by counting calories alone is not sufficient. Gut flora must be restructured. Conditions such as dysbiosis, candida overgrowth, histamine intolerance, gluten sensitivity, and leaky gut should be evaluated.
