Microbiota and Gut Health

The trillions of microorganisms living in our gut — the microbiota — directly influence not only digestion but also the immune system, hormonal balance, mood and chronic inflammation. Through the enteric nervous system the gut is in constant dialogue with the brain, which is why it is called the "second brain".

A disturbed gut flora underlies many conditions, from allergies and autoimmune disease to chronic fatigue and skin problems. Restoring the flora through microbiological therapy and proper nutrition is one of the cornerstones of regulatory medicine.
