Why we should stay away from carbonated drinks... 1 glass of cola equals 32 glasses of water

Carbonated drinks are formed by processing sugary mixtures with carbon dioxide gas (CO2). The pH values of these mixtures generally range between 2.4 and 4. Beverages this acidic can have many harmful effects. From the perspective of modern medicine, these beverages are one of the most common causes of tooth decay and ulcerative diseases. In addition to plenty of sugar, carbonated drinks also contain a high amount of phosphorus. Phosphorus and calcium in the body need to be in balance. In order to establish this balance against the rising amount of phosphorus, the organism draws calcium from the bones; the bone losing calcium triggers the development of osteoporosis. Carbonated drinks consumed in large quantities over many years increase the risk of osteoporosis through the acidosis and high calorie content they create, as well as through their phosphorus effect.

A single bottle (330 cc) of carbonated drink contains an average of 35-40 grams of sugar. Considering that 1 gram of sugar contains 4 calories, a single bottle of carbonated drink alone contains an average of 140-160 calories. It should not be overlooked that a drink consumed merely out of thirst or to cool down provides a large number of calories with no additional benefit to the body whatsoever.

32 GLASSES OF WATER ARE NEEDED

Carbonated drinks are very acidic; cola in particular is absorbed directly as acid when drunk and can lower the pH in the intestines to as low as 2.5. Neutralizing the acidity created by a single glass of cola requires a full 32 glasses of water. The harms of acidity are too numerous to list, but we can say this much: an acidic body is a body beginning to fall ill. Although this has been changing in recent years, as a society that generally doesn't enjoy drinking water, we should stay away from acidic beverages.

Excessive consumption of "light/diet/diabetic/zero" products containing artificial sweeteners, used to reduce calorie content, should also be avoided. These products also have a stimulating effect on the pancreas's sugar secretion. The pancreas secretes insulin, but there is no sugar around for it to act on; in the long run, this is a factor that disrupts metabolic balance. This group of products should primarily be used by diabetic patients, but even they should behave with extreme moderation.

What is unhealthy is unhealthy for everyone.

ANEMIA EMERGES

Most carbonated drinks contain caffeine. Since caffeine has a diuretic effect, it causes the body to lose fluid. A dehydrated body is a body whose connective tissue becomes contaminated, and numerous cosmetic disorders, cellulite foremost among them, are an expression of this contaminated connective tissue. Carbonated drinks are an important cause of these unwanted conditions.

Despite these and similar negative effects, another condition frequently caused by drinking carbonated beverages is anemia, since they hinder iron absorption.

The first reaction of some readers reading these lines, and similarly of patients with whom we have shared these facts, is often something like "I love carbonated drinks, I've been drinking them for years, and nothing has ever happened to me." Each of these is an unhealthy factor, and when they come together, they create conditions that threaten the body's health. No one develops an ulcer just from drinking a bottle of cola, nor does a single cup of coffee cover their entire legs in cellulite, but the more unhealthy factors there are, the fewer health reserves our body will have.
