Gout is a disorder of purine metabolism. Uric acid is the end product of purine metabolism. Since purine metabolism is disrupted in gout patients, these individuals must stay away from foods rich in purines.

The main purine-free foods are milk, eggs, rice, pasta, potatoes, grain products, and fat.

The main foods rich in purines are as follows: meat, offal, anchovy, sprat, the skin of white-meat animals, sausage, and similar foods. In addition, legumes and cabbage are also foods very rich in purines. Staying away from these foods is extremely important for our health. For this reason, care should be taken to ensure that the foods in each meal are low in purines.

VERY IMPORTANT FOR THEM TO LIVE A HEALTHY LIFE...

Gout patients absolutely must stay away from purine-containing foods and beverages, and especially from alcohol. Alcohol is one of the substances gout patients must strictly avoid. This is because, through its effect on the liver, alcohol accelerates the breakdown of purines while limiting their excretion by the kidneys. This causes uric acid crystals to accumulate in the body. In this respect, staying away from alcohol is very important for gout patients to lead a healthy life.

To make their kidney function more active, gout patients need to drink at least 3 liters of water a day. High-calorie beverages such as cola, lemonade, and others should be avoided. Non-alcoholic beer contains the same amount of purines as alcoholic beer when compared. For this reason, beer should also be avoided. Beverages such as plain water, soda water, unsweetened herbal teas, and vegetable and fruit teas should be consumed instead. Coffee and tea are not forbidden. In addition, since the purines found in coffee and tea are excreted without being converted into uric acid, there is no risk of accumulation. The same applies to cocoa.

In gout, the recurrence of attacks can be brought under control, the destruction of joints can be prevented, and kidney function can be supported through a combination of approaches such as dietary regulation, regulation of the intestinal flora, neural therapy, and magnetic field therapy.
