People need to sleep at least 6-8 hours to shake off the fatigue of the day. Individuals who sleep less than this get up tired and unmotivated. This considerably lowers your quality of life. Sleep problems can turn a person's life upside down. Some people are drowsy and exhausted throughout the day because they can't sleep at night; this condition is called sleep disorder. Long trips, staying up until morning, and working nights cause your sleep schedule to be disrupted. If you have been unable to sleep at night for 2 or 3 days and have had to sleep in the morning instead, restoring your sleep schedule will be very difficult. Even if you want to sleep at night, your eyes stay open when you go to bed, and you toss and turn in bed. In such a situation, sleep-regulating teas can be your savior.

LET'S DRINK SLEEP-REGULATING TEAS

PASSIONFLOWER TEA

Thanks to the tannins it contains, passionflower tea, which helps you sleep at night, will regulate your sleep.

Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata), which has calming, muscle-relaxing, and pain-relieving properties, was used by the Aztecs for its sedative and analgesic properties. The "harmine" component found in the plant creates a state of "happiness and well-being," clearing away the mental confusion and racing thoughts that make it difficult to fall asleep. Extracts obtained from the passionflower plant were used by the German army during World War II as a "truth serum." Excessive consumption can cause weakness. It should not be used together with alcoholic beverages or medications that calm the nerves (such as antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, and sleep medications).

CHAMOMILE TEA

The volatile fatty acids found in chamomile flowers bring on sleep and help you fall asleep, thanks to their nerve-relaxing properties.

Chamomile tea, one of the most consumed teas in our country for insomnia, aids digestion, eases muscle spasms, and is a pain reliever and antiseptic. Quite effective for mild sleep problems, chamomile tea can be mixed with an equal amount of hops.

VALERIAN

Valerian tea, with its pain-relieving properties, will help you sleep by easing any pain that is keeping you awake. Valerian tea can be used especially for insomnia experienced due to pain, menstrual cramps, anxiety, digestive problems, and cramps. It eases muscle pain and spasms, calms the digestive system, and lowers blood pressure. Studies conducted on the plant have found it to be an effective sleep regulator. Like other plants that induce sleep and calm the nerves, valerian tea affects the central nervous system and should not be used every evening. It can also cause a feeling of excitement in some people, driving away sleep.

PRECAUTIONS

You need to be as careful when consuming herbal teas as if you were taking medication. Because plants, like medications, cause certain changes in the body.

It's important not to forget that teas beneficial for insomnia particularly affect the central nervous system. Since consuming these teas every evening can lead to more serious insomnia problems down the road, they should be drunk in a controlled manner. It is recommended that pregnant and breastfeeding women, and those regularly taking medication for sleep, depression, blood pressure, diabetes, and other conditions, not consume these teas without consulting a doctor.
