Dietary recommendations for atopic dermatitis:

1. Food on the plate should always be as fresh as possible. This is especially true for fruits and vegetables. Those affected by neurodermatitis should avoid frozen foods as much as possible.

2. Fruits and vegetables should be regional and seasonal.

3. Pay attention to the quality of the foods you consume.

4. Animal products such as meat and fish play an important role in a proper diet for neurodermatitis, as they compensate for deficiencies in important nutrients. However, only organic meat should be eaten if possible. Fish should come from fish kept fresh rather than from aquaculture farming. Tuna and swordfish should also be avoided, as they are excessively loaded with heavy metals and unnecessarily irritate the body.

In addition to healthy eating, lifestyle is also very important. To achieve improvement in atopic dermatitis, you should pay attention to four points:

Food diary: Get into the habit of keeping a food diary. Try to find the connections between specific foods and symptoms.

Stress: Reduce stress in daily life and at work, whatever it takes.

Healthy sleep: This is very important for inflammatory diseases such as neurodermatitis. Get 7-9 hours of quality sleep.

Irritants: Cigarette smoke, cosmetics, and detergents seriously affect the condition, and attention should be paid to these triggers.

Foods especially beneficial for atopic dermatitis:

  • Organic meat and offal
  • Fruits (especially purple ones)
  • Vegetables (especially green and colorful ones)
  • Flaxseed, chia seeds, sesame, pumpkin seeds
  • Boiled, gluten-free grains, preferably whole grains
  • Olive oil and coconut oil, especially organic, cold-pressed ones
  • Green tea (very effective: oolong tea)
  • Filtered drinking water
  • Mushrooms
  • 1-2 cups daily of herbal teas: heartsease (wild pansy), burdock root, dandelion, birch leaves, fumitory
  • Fermented vegetables such as kimchi and sauerkraut

These foods should form the basis of the diet. All of them have anti-inflammatory properties and support the skin, the intestines, and the immune system.

Special attention should be paid to certain nutrients in order to renew the skin, intestines, and immune system, and to further reduce inflammation in the body.
