Guide to correct nutrition: should you drink water while eating
Daily food should be prepared as simply as possible. Consuming a wide variety of dishes drives people to overeat and tires the stomach. Excess food means excess weight.
The first foods eaten should be raw. For this reason, vegetables and fruits are recommended. Practices in our country, however, are the exact opposite. If fruit is to be consumed, it should be eaten before meals or as a between-meal snack. Fruit eaten right after a main meal can harm our body.
If raw foods are eaten first, there is less room left in the stomach for other foods. In addition, if the first foods eaten are raw and rich in fiber, they act as a piston, helping the intestines function.
Spicy and excessively seasoned food should be avoided. Only the harmless flavorings and seasonings added to sauces and dishes should be used. Nature has given us many pleasantly scented, flavorful plants and herbs. These add flavor to food and are also beneficial for our health.
Foods consumed should be as unprocessed as possible. Priority should be given to the most natural foods with unaltered structure. In particular, if animal-based and processed foods sour in the stomach and rot in the intestines, they cause blood poisoning. For this reason, even if the foods eaten are of lower quality, it is essential that they be well digested.
Digestive disorders generally arise as a result of bad habits. The main symptoms are: heaviness in the stomach, sourness, excessive acid secretion, burning, nausea, drowsiness, headache, and vomiting. Poorly digested food, after passing through the stomach, causes complaints such as gas, bloating, constipation, or diarrhea in the intestines. To eliminate these symptoms, the causes must first be removed.
MAIN CAUSES OF DIGESTIVE DISORDERS
Eating quickly and frequently: The digestive process begins in the mouth with the chewing of food. Poorly chewed food sours in the digestive organs. For this reason, people who do not eat slowly are sooner or later forced to see a doctor. If a person does not have enough time to eat, they should eat as much as their available time allows. Even the best foods we consume are only beneficial to us as long as we can digest them. Everyone who wants to protect their health should chew every bite slowly.
Drinking water during meals: Liquids consumed during meals (drinks, water, fruit juice, etc.) bloat and tire the stomach. In addition, these liquids dilute the stomach's digestive juices, weakening their effect. On the other hand, cold liquids drunk during meals halt digestion. Because the stomach needs a certain temperature in order to carry out the digestive process.
Eating more than what is needed: This is one of the main causes of digestive problems. People should get up from the table without being completely full. The best way to avoid overeating is to have fewer dishes on the table and to serve on small plates.
Meals too close together: Both the stomach and the intestines need a certain amount of time to carry out their tasks. If food has not been eaten in excess, a normal digestive process requires 4-5 hours, and for some foods, a period of 5-6 hours is needed. For this reason, it is recommended not to eat too frequently.
Doing a fruit cleanse one day a week, or eating nothing from after dinner until dinner the following day, is one of the secrets to staying young. We should rest our digestive organs for at least one day a week.
Eating between meals: This kind of habit tires the stomach and disrupts the gut flora. In this respect, an afternoon snack is unnecessary for adults.
Eating late at night: It is not advisable to go to bed immediately after eating, because sleep delays digestion. Otherwise, you wake up tired the next morning. Nighttime meals should be light. However, conditions are more variable for those who cannot get enough food during the day.
If food is eaten while tired and stressed, our nervous system cannot assist the digestive process. For this reason, it is better not to eat anything in this state. Food should be eaten once fatigue has passed or tension has eased. A state of excessive fatigue prevents the stomach muscles from churning food as much as needed.
The presence of a fungal infection in the intestines: The person feels very tired. There is excessive craving for sugar and sweets. Excessive gas occurs in the intestines. This can sometimes even produce complaints resembling reflux.
Insomnia: Can lead to digestive disorders. It also disrupts the balance of digestion by depleting the nervous system's reserves.
Eating while feverish: Causes the fever to rise even further. Because high fever dries up the digestive juices. In these situations, fasting should be practiced for a faster recovery. In nature, no animal eats while sick.
All kinds of spices: Spices such as mustard, vinegar, and black pepper irritate the digestive juices, especially if the stomach is weak, disrupting the stomach's chemical composition and leading to digestive disorders.
Unripe fruit: Should be avoided because it contains high amounts of acid.
Foods on the verge of spoiling: Lead to the proliferation of microorganisms and digestive disorders.
Reheated food: The fat in food that cools after cooking solidifies. Bacteria remain within this solidified fat. When the food is reheated, the bacteria within it multiply rapidly. We do not see the harmful effects of eating such food immediately, but over time our liver, kidneys, gallbladder, and intestines are negatively affected.
Fried foods: Regardless of the type of oil used, fried foods are generally difficult to digest. Because at high temperatures the oil breaks down, and this breakdown harms the liver.
Excessive amounts of sugar: Leads to digestive disorders. Sugar is a substance that acidifies quickly and negatively affects all organs involved in digestion.
