After the XXI Herget Symposium: A Path We Have Grown Together and Istanbul 2027

After two wonderful, intense and truly fulfilling days, we have concluded the XXI Traditional Herget Symposium on Neural Therapy and Regulation Medicine.

Looking back now, what I feel is not so much fatigue as happiness and gratitude.

The success of a scientific meeting cannot be measured only by how full its program was, how many presentations were delivered, or how many people were in the hall. For me, its true value lies in the spirit in which people come together, how much they share, how attentively they listen to one another, and what they take home when the meeting is over.

I felt all of this very strongly at this symposium.

At the twenty-first gathering of the Herget tradition, which we have continued since 2003, we once again came together around the same fundamental idea: trying to understand the human being without reducing the person to separate parts.

We did not regard neural therapy merely as an injection technique. We considered the autonomic nervous system, extracellular matrix, microcirculation, inflammation, metabolism, the hormonal system, fascia and the locomotor system together—in short, the interconnected regulatory networks of the organism.

This was also expressed in this year's main theme: “New Horizons in Regulation Medicine: Modulation of the Autonomic Nervous System through Neural Therapy.”

Yet one of the most beautiful aspects of the meeting for me was that knowledge did not flow only from the podium to the audience.

Questions were asked. Different views were expressed. Clinical experience was shared. At the round tables, we sometimes looked at the same issue through different windows. In the workshops, we moved from theory to hands-on practice. In the case presentations, we discussed the real problems of everyday medical practice.

Science is also this: being able to learn from one another’s experience instead of believing that we already know everything.

This Success Belongs to All of Us

A meeting of this scope does not happen through the work of only a few people. Behind it lies months of preparation, much of it invisible from the outside.

First of all, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to our Symposium Chairs, Dr. Tijen Acarkan and Dr. İlhan Demiryılmaz.

Tijen and İlhan assumed great responsibility not only in shaping the program but also in creating the spirit of the meeting. Their friendship, their work, and the contribution they have made to neural therapy over many years are especially precious to me.

Dr. Mehmet Ali Elmacıoğlu and Dr. Dt. Burak Büyüktürk, who served as our Scientific Secretaries, were also among those who carried much of the weight of this meeting. I thank them both individually for their dedication, from preparing the scientific program to coordinating the sessions.

And, of course, dear Elvan Ataç…

As the BNR Secretariat, she worked for months on almost every visible and invisible detail of this organization: telephone calls, correspondence, registrations, participants, last-minute changes, and dozens of small details. Those who do this work know very well how much effort lies behind the part of a congress that is visible on stage.

I especially thank dear Elvan for her patience, dedication, and sense of belonging to the BNR family.

I also owe special thanks to dear Okan Sezginel of META Turizm, who made a major contribution to the organization. With the friendship and working relationship we have built over many years, he was once again by our side. We know that a scientific meeting is not made up of its scientific program alone; accommodation, meeting rooms, transportation, technical details and countless other elements form a whole. Okan’s solution-oriented approach and effort were extremely valuable to us throughout this process.

Thank You to All My Colleagues Who Shared Their Knowledge

All of my colleagues who enriched our scientific program over these two days through presentations, moderation, case discussions, round tables and workshops were the true richness of this meeting.

My heartfelt thanks go to Fatma Gülçin Ural Nazlıkul, Mehmet Dinçer Bilgin, Tijen Acarkan, İlhan Demiryılmaz, Füsun Şahin, Ferda Firdin, Neslihan Özkan, Pınar Yalçın Bahat, Mehmet Ali Elmacıoğlu, Burak Büyüktürk, Demet Erdoğan, Özden Sibel Odabaşı, Bilgehan Biçer, Mustafa Evrensel, Ömer Soyak, Yusuf Tamam, İhsan Başpınar, Cüneyt Tamam, Aziz Denli and veterinarian Onur Jılta, as well as to every colleague who contributed at different stages of the program.

Each of them brought their own knowledge and experience.

I was particularly pleased by the vitality of the round-table discussions. The discussions entitled “The Role of VSS in Diagnosis and Treatment” and “The Biological Dimension of Detoxification” once again showed how valuable it is to bring different clinical experiences together around the same table.

In the workshops on lower and upper extremity examination and neural therapy approaches, the hormonal axis, chelation and detoxification organs, we witnessed theoretical knowledge being translated into practice. Our multidisciplinary case sessions also provided valuable examples that directly touched everyday clinical work.

A Special Thank You to the BNR Instructors

I would particularly like to acknowledge our BNR instructors.

If neural therapy in Türkiye has today reached a certain level of scientific knowledge, an established educational system and a strong community of physicians, this is the result of many years of work.

Learning knowledge is one thing; sharing it is another.

I sincerely thank all BNR instructors who, for years, have devoted their weekends, their time and their experience to younger colleagues, and who have shared their knowledge generously in courses, workshops and clinical training.

A school of thought remains alive only if it can pass its knowledge on to the next generation.

That is our true responsibility: to leave neural therapy to those who come after us in a more scientific, stronger and more questioning form.

The Greatest Thanks Belong to the Physicians in the Hall

And of course, we must not forget the true owners of this symposium: the physicians who attended.

I thank all of my colleagues who came from different parts of Türkiye, stayed with us throughout the two days from the early morning until the final session, asked questions, joined the discussions and shared their experience.

Without you, the podium has no meaning.

What makes a scientific meeting valuable is the curiosity that the knowledge presented from the podium awakens in those listening.

For that reason, I thank every single participant.

To the Friends Who Supported Us

The contribution of institutions that support the sustainability of scientific organizations is also very valuable.

I would like to thank Kadir Tataroğlu in particular, as well as all the companies and their representatives who supported our symposium and took part with their stands and products.

While preserving our scientific independence, we appreciate the support that enables innovations and different products in medicine to meet with our colleagues.

I also thank everyone who worked behind the scenes throughout these two days—from the hotel staff and technical team to the registration desk and those responsible for the meeting rooms.

Sometimes people whose names we may never know have a very large share in the success of a meeting.

Now It Is Time for Istanbul 2027

The XXI Traditional Herget Symposium has come to an end.

But for us, a new and even greater journey is actually beginning.

From 11–13 June 2027, we will hold the 5th World Congress of Neural Therapy in Istanbul.

We have already rolled up our sleeves.

Our aim is not simply to organize a large congress.

Our aim is to organize a World Congress worthy of Türkiye.

We want to bring together in Istanbul, under one roof, physicians, scientists, instructors and young researchers from different countries who have devoted themselves to neural therapy and regulation medicine.

While protecting the historical roots of neural therapy, we also want to discuss its future.

We want to connect the great chain of knowledge and experience extending from Spiess to Ricker, from the Huneke brothers to Dosch, from Herget to Bergsmann, Barop and Fischer, with today’s research in neurophysiology, the autonomic nervous system, fascia, immunology, microcirculation and modern regulation science.

Respecting the past does not mean remaining in the past.

On the contrary, it means questioning the knowledge entrusted to us in the light of contemporary science and passing it on to the next generation in a stronger form.

At the World Congress, we do not want only to listen to the masters.

We want our younger colleagues to take the floor, share their research, ask questions and claim their place in the future of neural therapy.

We want to bring people from different countries, different schools and, at times, different ways of thinking to the same table.

Because there is a phrase I have repeated for many years:

Our differences are our richness.

We do not have to think alike.

But we do have to listen to one another, learn from one another and continue searching for what is better for our patients.

The XXI Herget Symposium showed me once again that Türkiye has a strong neural therapy family capable of doing this.

For that reason, today I am not only offering thanks for the successful symposium we have just completed.

I am also calling on all of you to join us on a new journey:

Let us meet in Istanbul on 11–13 June 2027.

Let us invite our friends from all over the world to Istanbul.

Let us share our knowledge.

Let us discuss our experience.

Let us make room for the younger generation.

Let us honour our past while looking to the future together.

Once again, I sincerely thank everyone who attended the XXI Herget Symposium, gave a presentation, moderated a session, worked in the workshops, asked questions, contributed to the organization, supported us, or in any way added their effort to this beautiful gathering.

We have been walking this path together for more than twenty years.

We have built many friendships, trained many physicians and learned so much from one another.

Now a new threshold lies before us.

Istanbul 2027.

5th World Congress of Neural Therapy.

This congress will belong to all of us.

And I believe that, together, we will succeed once again.

Knowledge grows when it is shared.

Experience gains meaning when it is passed on.

And loyalty is the strongest bridge connecting the past with the future.
