Diagnosis of the Disturbance Field in Neural Therapy

The diagnostic process for a disturbance field means infiltrating the initially suspected area with local anesthetic and waiting for a clinical reaction. Since this reaction generally occurs within a few seconds, it was named the “Sekunden Phenomenon” (Second Phenomenon) by Huneke.

The complete elimination, for at least 20 hours after the first treatment, of the disease triggered or sustained by the disturbance field, and the disappearance of symptoms for an indefinite period after each treatment, proves the existence of the disturbance field.

To demonstrate disturbance fields around the dental-jaw region, a complaint in the teeth must be completely relieved for at least eight hours. The foundation of the disturbance field diagnostic process is generally the segment diagnosis, carried out without any change in the clinical picture. It is possible to make this assessment after one or two treatment sessions.

For disturbance field diagnosis, a local anesthetic injection must be given to the suspected disturbance field — for example, to any type of scar — or, if infiltration of the suspected tissue or organ itself is not possible (for example the sinuses, liver, kidney, pancreas), to the associated autonomic ganglia, nerves, and vascular structures.

NEURAL THERAPY DISTURBANCE FIELD DIAGNOSTIC PROCESS

The order in which disturbance fields are searched for varies from person to person and is based on Huneke’s clinical experience with disturbance fields since 1940. The aim is to identify the disturbance field causing the disease while keeping the number of ineffective injections to a minimum.

As recommended by Dosch, the worst disease or injury outside the condition to be treated may be the key to an important disturbance field. If tests performed on all possible disturbance fields identified through case history have failed, disturbance field testing may be continued based solely on experience, independent of case history. Because disturbance fields are especially frequently encountered in the face-skull region, mouth, nose-throat, abdominal cavity, internal organs, and the small pelvis, the disturbance field diagnostic process should be continued even without information in the case history and even when only vague local findings are present. Monitoring the symptoms to be treated and accurately documenting any change are of great importance for achieving the targeted success.

NEURAL THERAPY DISTURBANCE FIELD TREATMENT

For disturbance field treatment, the disturbance field must be reliably identified. In other words, the Sekunden phenomenon must be triggered in a reproducible manner. Therapy is carried out as a continuation of the injections previously used for disturbance field diagnosis. The frequency and duration of disturbance field treatment differ from person to person and depend on the length of the symptom-free period achieved. For this reason, the number of treatments required for each clinical picture — a matter of great concern to the patient — can often only be understood once treatment is complete. The injection technique used for disturbance field diagnosis and treatment is the same as that used for segment diagnosis and treatment. During disturbance field treatment, it is possible that, despite repeated injections, success is not achieved within varying periods of time and the disturbance field cannot be permanently neutralized. In this case, another disturbance field that may be the source of the problem can be sought.

MAIN OUTLINES OF NEURAL THERAPY DISTURBANCE FIELD DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT

  • Any chronic disease can be triggered and sustained by a disturbance field.
  • Any disease or injury can leave behind a disturbance field. This is particularly true for long-term illnesses or illnesses with a complex course.
  • Any disease triggered by a disturbance field can only be treated by eliminating the disruptive effect of that disturbance field.
  • A disturbance field can only be identified through the Sekunden phenomenon (Huneke). The relationship between the disturbance field and the disease it is connected to is reproducible.

THE MOST COMMONLY SEEN DISTURBANCE FIELDS

After decades of experience in the field of neural therapy, it has been observed that approximately 70-80% of disturbance fields are located in the oropharynx and sinus cavities.

The first plausible explanation that comes to mind for this clustering is that the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, the cranial nerves, and their connections with the somatic nervous system densely innervate this region.

The remaining disturbance fields (20-30%) are found in scars, the small pelvis, the abdomen, and the rest of the body. In addition to examining the oral cavity, evaluation of X-ray imaging is also required.

Panoramic X-ray imaging, along with individual images of the teeth if available, is of critical importance for disturbance field diagnosis.

NEURAL THERAPEUTIC PHENOMENA AND TYPES OF RESPONSE

Evaluating the response obtained after neural therapy determines the therapeutic course. For this reason, in order to fully assess the possibility of treating a disease, it is important to regularly classify the following types of response.

SEGMENT PHENOMENON

This phenomenon, first observed 100 years ago, was the first neural therapeutic response and paved the way for the use of local anesthesia for therapeutic purposes. Repeated infiltration of local anesthetic into painful areas or pressure points was found to improve or completely eliminate symptoms. This observation alone (Schleich, Spieß, Leriche, Huneke) led to the development of the concept of segment therapy.

REACTION PHENOMENON

The reaction phenomenon represents a special form of response during the segment diagnostic process. It manifests as a worsening of the targeted symptoms within 1-3 days after neural therapeutic segment treatment.

Following this worsening, the symptoms recede to their baseline level. The reaction phenomenon is, during the segmental diagnostic process, the clearest evidence of the presence of a disturbance field.

In other words, the reaction phenomenon must be linked to the disturbance field diagnostic process; otherwise, continuing segment treatment will result in failure.

RETROGRADE PHENOMENON

During segmental treatment, symptoms that did not previously exist may appear — pain elsewhere, inflammatory reactions, or organ dysfunction. This is considered a “report” from the disturbance field responsible for the disease. This connection is confirmed by infiltration of the disturbance field and the subsequent improvement of the targeted disease.

INDIRECT RETROGRADE PHENOMENON

As in the retrograde phenomenon, neural therapeutic segment or disturbance field treatment can cause complaints in other regions; however, pursuing these new findings under suspicion of a disturbance field does not eliminate the originally targeted complaint picture. In this case, during the first neural therapeutic treatment, the organism — activated by the previous neural therapeutic applications — reports a previously asymptomatic regional disorder. After these additional complaints normalize, it becomes important to pursue these new symptoms with neural therapeutic methods, because a positive response can then be obtained for the original complaints, for which segment treatment had previously failed. In such cases, the newly emerged disorder acts as a blocking factor.

SEKUNDEN PHENOMENON

Made possible through the observation and application within a therapeutic framework by the Huneke brothers, and offering entirely new therapeutic options, this phenomenon is certainly the most fascinating aspect of neural therapy. The basis of this phenomenon consists of disturbance fields through which a disease picture is triggered and sustained via the autonomic nervous system.

The Sekunden phenomenon is a sequence of responses in which, following infiltration of the disturbance field, the clinical picture disappears “within a second” — to the extent that anatomical conditions allow — and function is normalized.

It is important that symptoms disappear for at least 20 hours at first, and that after the old symptoms recur, repeating the disturbance field infiltration can permanently eliminate the complaints. If the teeth are identified as a disturbance field, the initial symptom-free period must last at least eight hours. The Sekunden phenomenon is the most impressive phenomenon in neural therapy, documenting just how powerful a regulatory disturbance a disturbance field can cause in the organism.
